Position as Security and Preparedness Officer

The Swedish Customs actively works to create conditions for and develop security and preparedness within the organization. The Administrative Department plays a central role in this development.

The Security and Preparedness Unit leads, coordinates, and controls the operational security, security protection, signal protection, preparedness, and civil defense of the Swedish Customs.

The Security and Preparedness Unit currently consists of 18 employees and is led by the Chief Security Officer of the Swedish Customs.

About the Position

As a Security and Preparedness Officer, you will participate in the security and preparedness work of the Swedish Customs and will come into contact with both strategic and operational issues within the entire scope of the Security and Preparedness Unit's activities.

This means that you will, among other things, handle security and preparedness cases and incidents, check compliance with regulations and requirements, conduct investigations and analyses, and work to increase knowledge and awareness of security and preparedness at the Swedish Customs.

Other tasks within the responsibilities of the Security and Preparedness Unit may also occur.

The role involves collaboration both internally within the Swedish Customs and with external suppliers and partners.

Are You the One We Are Looking For?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Post-secondary education in the field of security and preparedness or other education combined with experience that the Swedish Customs deems relevant for the role
  • Current work experience in independently handling/coordinating security and/or preparedness-related matters or other experience that the Swedish Customs deems equivalent
  • Good knowledge of the Office suite
  • Good ability to communicate verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Training as a security/security protection officer
  • Training in the area of exposure to security-sensitive activities
  • Training in the area of personnel security
  • Signal protection training
  • Experience in independently handling security clearance cases, including both preliminary investigations and security clearance interviews
  • Experience regarding exposure to security-sensitive activities
  • Experience in developing specific security protection assessments
  • Experience working with threat and risk assessments
  • Experience in shaping and writing governing and supporting documents

Location: Stockholm, Gothenburg, or Malmö. Other locations may be possible by agreement.

The position may involve travel within Sweden.

Employment form: The employment is a permanent position that begins with a 6-month probationary period, and individual salary setting applies.

We place high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. Before a hiring decision is made, you will undergo a drug test and background check. Security clearance with register control according to the Security Protection Act will be conducted before employment, as the position is classified in a security class. The Swedish Customs is a total defense authority, and upon employment, you may be assigned to the Swedish Customs in times of war.
